The decision won’t be made right away though.
It will happen when the next review of the municipality’s official land use plan takes place.
An application also has to be made to the Ministry of Transportation for a new intersection with Highway 21.
The M-T-O is open to the idea.
Councillor Randy Roppel says building the new road would be good planning.
He wants to see the homes that were proposed for land near the cemetery to instead be located on the new street.
He says the location is close to Tiverton’s business area, playground, and fire hall, making it an attractive place for families to live.
Roppel says it would make a nearby dead-end street into a through road and improve traffic flow.
He adds Kincardine would have to seek permission from the county and the province to have the subdivision plan relocated from another part of the village.
Kincardine’s Building and Planning Commitee also recently decided to postpone any further work on re-allocating the subdivision lands until the Ontario Municipal Board rules on a case between a developer and the Tiverton Ratepayer’s Association.
Councillor Guy Anderson questions if the municipality should go ahead and build the new road before knowing if the development can go ahead.
