An autopsy will be conducted today on the body of a 79 year old man murdered in Dundalk.
Leonard Perrault was found dead in his apartment Tuesday afternoon.
A post mortem will be completed in London today to determine the exact cause of death.
18 year old Derek Gauvin of Dundalk was arrested overnight Wednesday and has been charged with second degree murder.
Gauvin appeared in court for a bail hearing yesterday and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance tomorrow in Owen Sound.
Southgate Mayor Don Lewis says there is shock and disbelief in the town.
Lewis says many residents were first surprised at the lockdown of two public schools Tuesday and then equally surprised that someone was murdered.
It’s the first homicide in the quiet community in more than a decade.
Grey County OPP Constable Steve Starr says the suspect was arrested without incident.
He doesn’t know whether there is a connection between the suspect and victim.
The Criminal Investigations Branch of the OPP remain on the case.
