Five wind turbines along Highway 21 south of Tiverton are up and running.
The 1.65 megawatt turbines are part of Enbridge’s Cruickshank Wind Project and have been operating since October 1st.
Enbridge General Manager Bob Simpson says they are now putting the 110 turbine project between Bruce Road 20 and the Kincardine – Saugeen Shores boundary into commission.
Simpson says all turbines are up, but final mechanical work continues.
The first turbine was started yesterday.
Simpson expects two to three, even possibly four to start each day until all are up and operating.
The project is valued at 4 hundred million dollars and will provide enough energy to power 35,000 homes.
Simpson says everything should be complete by mid January
