Grey County OPP Media Relations Officer Steve Starr says 79 year old Leonard Perrault was found dead yesterday in a Dundalk apartment.
18 year old Derek Gauvin of Dundalk was arrested overnight and has been charged with second degree murder.
Gauvin appeared in court for a bail hearing today and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Friday.
The exact cause of Perrault’s death is undetermined at this point, and a post mortem is scheduled for tomorrow in London.
When police were called to Dundalk yesterday, they initially believed someone nearby was armed with a gun.
As a result, they locked down Dundalk’s two public schools and the village main street.
The lockdown was lifted at 6 PM when police determined there was no threat to the public.
Meanwhile, the police investigation continues.
