Current Warden Milt McIver is not entering his name in the running for the next term.
The Northern Bruce Peninsula Mayor says he’s put in his year and it’s time to let someone else have their turn at the helm.
McIver says there are two people interested in the job – Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato and South Bruce Mayor Bill Goetz.
McIver has been Bruce County Warden twice before and says he’s not ruling out a fourth go round in the future.
While he says County Council has agreed on one year terms for now, it may be something to review in the future.
McIver explains there’s a lot to learn as Warden, and having only one year to do it may not be the best system.
McIver says being Warden is a huge commitment – as Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula, he’s had to do a lot of driving in his capacity as Warden.
But he also says it’s a huge honour – McIver says some of his proudest moments from this term were showcasing Bruce County in the IPM and joining the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Initiative.
County Council will hold an election in December – McIver’s term officially ends in January.
