Jim Prentice is now the Environment Minister; political rookie Lisa Raitt is the Minister of Natural Resources.
Nuclear energy falls under both ministries and Bruce Power Manager of Government Relations Ross Lamont says he is looking forward to setting up meetings.
He has no concerns about the shuffle, saying he’s never had a problem with changes in the government before.
Lamont is also not concerned about Minister Raitt’s lack of experience either; coming as the former president and CEO of Toronto Port Authority.
In fact, he believes she will be briefed rather quickly, and that Minister Prentice will be a mentor in some areas too.
Lamont says Bruce Power will certainly extend an invitation for a visit and sit down with Minister Raittt to discuss Bruce Power’s goals and successes.
Last Friday, Bruce Power initiated the first step in creating a nuclear power plant in Nanticoke.
Officials are also in the process of getting final approval for a new nuclear build in Tiverton known as “Bruce C”.
