It’s not a rumour.
All Canadian Tire stores will only install a complete set of four winter tires from now on in the case of a standard passenger vehicle.
Port Elgin store owner, Mike Mowbray says Canadian Tire Corporate has instructed all stores of the change.
Mowbray says it is the belief that having all four tires and not just two, as some people like to opt for, is safer.
He personally agrees with the philosophy.
Mowbray says in fact, there seems to be a shift in belief about the benefit of having them in an area like Bruce or Grey County.
He says before, many believed all season tires were good enough, now, some are even choosing to get 4 winter tires on rims, and having a different set for the two seasons.
You can buy as many tires as you want and install as many tires as you want as long as there are 4 in total for a passenger vehicle.
Installing winter tires on all wheel positions is the law in Quebec.
