As it gets darker earlier in the region, you never know what you’re going to run into on the roads, or run over.
Saugeen Shores police report a motorist travelling on Highway 21 in the area of Concession 2 around 11:30pm on October 20th ran over what she thought was an animal.
As it turns out, it was a pick-up truck tailgate which had been lying on the road.
The tailgate damaged the motorist’s gas tank although she made it to Port Elgin before running out of gas.
Nobody hurt but the Ministry of Transportation was called due to the large amount of gasoline leaked on the road.
The owner of the tailgate has not been identified.
