With Stephen Harper on track to pick his new Cabinet Ministers, a local MP is getting his hat thrown in the ring.
The Bruce County Federation of Agriculture is endorsing Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller for the position of Minister of Agriculture.
At their annual general meeting on Friday night, the Federation passed a motion to write a letter to the Prime Minister in support of Miller.
Miller says he wasn’t aware of the support he had from the group, but it’s very gratifying to know the Federation is behind him.
He says there are still a lot of problems in agriculture to deal with, and there’s a long way to go before the issues are resolved.
Miller says he’s fully supportive of the Conservative Party and will go where ever the Prime Minister needs him to.
At the meeting, Ontario Federation of Agriculture President Geri Kamenz also expressed his wishes for a Minister from Ontario.
If the position goes to Miller, he’d be following Minister Gerry Ritz from Saskatchewan.
