The President of the Bluewater Education Foundation is moving on.
David Armstrong has been the Executive Director for the past three years and has now accepted a position with the Ministry of Education.
He’s working on a project to increase the graduation rate among high school students through an approach that places the students in a college setting before they finish secondary school.
Armstrong says it’ll be a lot of commuting to meetings in Toronto and colleges around the province but he will be staying in the area.
He’s pleased with the accomplishments of the Foundation during his tenure which included building a new dorm with kitchen and dining facilities.
Armstrong says last year they opened the Bruce Power Environmental Learning Centre and this year volunteers helped to completely finish the foundation of the historic barn at the Wiarton location.
Armstrong will continue his duties as Executive Director until the end of December.
He says the board is now in the process of making decisions on how best to replace him.
Armstrong was the Director of Education for the Bluewater Board prior to his retirement in 2005.
