Time is running out on the Fall Wild Turkey Hunt in Ontario.
It’s the first time the Ministry of Natural resources has allowed a fall hunt, with officials saying the number of wild turkeys in Ontario is now over 70 thousand.
Hunters have until this afternoon to bag a bird.
Owen Sound conservation officer Joe Augustine doesn’t have any numbers, but says the amount of birds being shot is lower than expected.
He says one reason is that Moose hunting season is now on up north.
Another reason for the low-kill… is a lot of hunters are not away of the fall season for Wild Turkey.
The spring wild turkey season begins in April.
