Grey County OPP say May Perks lived alone at 139 Pearson Street.
Police say Perk’s son, who lives next door, called the fire department at about 7 last night after he noticed a red glow through the window of his mother’s raised bungalow.
Neighbours formed a bucket brigade but were unable to get ahead of the blaze.
Perks was discovered on the main floor of the home after the firefighters brought the fire under control.
A post mortem was carried out today in Barrie.
The Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the blaze, but foul play is not suspected.
