After a quiet August, September was a banner month for construction in Owen Sound.
Forty-four building permits were issued, was down from September of last year but the dollar value was more than double at 4.2 million dollars.
Several major projects helped to push the figures up according to Development
Co ordinator Sandi Parks.
The addition to St. Mary’s high school is worth about 2.7 million dollars while a new Tim Horton’s on the west side is worth about 365 thousand.
Parks says they also issued permits for six new homes.
She says the figure to take note of this time around is that in the first 9 months of this year, Owen Sound has surpassed the total of construction value for all of last year at more than 26.2 million dollars.
Last year’s final total was 26.1 million.
