Land owners affected by the Bruce Power from Tiverton to Milton transmission line will be meeting with property agents soon.
The Ontario Energy Board approved the 635 million dollar project last month.
Hydro One Project Director Gary Schneider says meetings will be held between the more than two hundred people affected and the agents in mid to late October.
Schneider says that’s when residents will be given a formal offer of compensation for building the line on their property. (there are 350 properties affected)
He says the offers are based on a fair market value assessment by an accredited appraiser.
There are also incentives worked in to expedite the process.
Schneider says property owners will be given a certain amount of review time for the offer, and can certainly get a second appraisal if they don’t agree with the first.
Schneider says while they do have approval from the OEB, they still need approval on the environmental assessment.
He says the draft EA report is on their website for a public and agency review period of thirty days; and expects approval next year.
The line is expected to be built and operating in 2011, once that process is complete.
Many affected landowners in Bruce County are challenging the need for a new transmission route, being built along an existing line.
The line will handle power from the refurbished Bruce stations coming back on line in 2009; along with 700 megawatts of wind power now being produced, and another 1000 megawatts of planned wind power still to come.
