It appears more motorists are wearing their seatbelts.
Grey County OPP officers checked almost 14 thousand vehicles and 77 child seats during the 2008 Fall Seatbelt Campaign that ended Thanksgiving weekend.
During the 12 day period — officers issued 290 seatbelt related charges.
There were no charges for child restraints.
Grey County OPP Auxiliary officers surveyed vehicles at 8 different locations and found a seatbelt compliance rate of 98 per cent.
Police say the results are encouraging.
Provincewide, the OPP checked over 861 thousand vehicles and laid more than 10 thousand 300 seatbelt charges.
