Shane Jolley of Owen Sound pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in Owen Sound court and was sentenced to two years probation.
He was originally charged with trespassing by night after Grey County OPP investigated an incident at a home just west of Owen Sound in May.
At the time — Jolley said he was investigating thefts of expensive bicycles in the Owen Sound area.
He must also avoid contact with the homeowners.
