Kincardine feels a small road can lead to future development in Tiverton.
A motion was tabled at last night’s Council meeting
The Municipality will initiate and prepare all studies and documents for the purpose of presenting an application to the Ministry of Transportation, for an entrance off Highway 21 at the East side of the Village.
Councillor Randy Roppel says it is something that needs to be addressed.
Roppel says this is part of a long-term plan for the Municipality where they will be able to prepare themselves for the future.
He says once an access road from Highway 21 is granted then they can proceed with development.
There had been developments proposed for Tiverton in the past including one from Beisel Contracting for a 22-unit residential complex near the proposed intersection.
That one is going through an Ontario Municipal Board appeal.
Roppel says this motion would put the horse in front of the cart where before it was the other way around.
He says how can you negotiate with landowners when the MTO won’t allow an entrance off the highway?
He says the motion shows good planning and it is common sense.
There will be further discussion at the next Planning Advisory Committee meeting on November 10th.
