The future make-up of downtown Port Elgin could be in your hands or in your ideas.
The Saugeen Shores Community Improvement Plan Committee is holding the first of three open houses tonight at the Plex at seven.
Speaking on Soundingboard Committee chair Councillor Luke Charbonneau says the committee is developing an improvement plan for downtown Port Elgin and wants public input.
Charbonneau says for instance, he knows business owners have concerns about the lack of parking and in particular accessible parking to their respective store fronts.
Saugeen Shores Development Coordinator Jay Pausner says at this first meeting they want to tell the public what their plan is and then see how individual residents can help with that plan through ideas and suggestions.
Pausner says the committee is encouraging people to share photos as well pointing out things that best define the downtown area and perhaps don’t define the area.
He says tonight’s meeting is the first of three open houses.
Tonight’s will be brainstorming while subsequent meetings will deal with developing action plans.
Pausner says if you’re unable to attend the meeting your ideas and comments are welcomed at www.saugeenshorescommunityplan.com
