Port Elgin Branch Renovation and Expansion Fundraising Chair Mark Kraemer says thanks to $61,800 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation recently a new elevator is being installed.
The elevator will provide access to all levels of the library and help increase programming opportunities.
Kraemer says the elevator project is part of a 1.4-million-dollar renovation project the library has been undergoing since April.
He says there haven’t been any surprises recently and the work is progressing although there is no set date for a ribbon cutting and official opening.
Earlier it was hoped by officials that the library would be open sometime this month.
In the meantime Kraemer says they’re still looking for donations and have attained about 75% of the goal of 1.4-million.
Kraemer says they need just over $300,000 to reach their goal.
