With that, that Mark Cassidy has been brought on board to be the project’s Regional Coordinator.
The purpose of the project is to work with the business and economic development community to analyze the present economic environment and to identify the opportunities and barriers confronting the area the project covers.
Cassidy says the area the project covers goes as far as Bruce County in the west, Simcoe County to the east and south to the Wellington County.
Cassidy says the population in the area the project covers is 1.3 million people.
Cassidy says they began the project in August and have been travelling to the many communities and meeting with county councils to inform them of the work they are doing.
Cassidy says many counties have already developed a economic strategic plan and the project will pool all those ideas together and look at the opportunities across the entire area.
Cassidy says they are just wrapping up phase 1 of the project and still have 3 phases to go.
Cassidy says the project will be complete by February next year and have their report ready for the regions in the area.
