The 22nd annual Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is in the books and organizers are thrilled with the weekend event.
They are still tallying the total attendance numbers as thousands of people took in the different events — including the international weigh off.
There were local competitors as well as growers from as far away as Rhode Island and the Northwest Territories.
The Leonard family of Wyevale had the heaviest pumpkin at almost 14 hundred pounds and heaviest watermelon at 239 pounds.
The watermelon weight was a Canadian record for Darrell Leonard and his son Tyler.
The heaviest squash weighed 1065.5 pounds and belonged to Brant Timm of Pembroke — who also had the heaviest tomato at 5.32 pounds.
Fred Hain of London, Ontario had the tallest cornstalk at 285.5 inches and the tallest sunflower at 261.5 inches.
The heaviest cabbage weighed 52.5 pounds and belonged to Dennis Hartung of Palmerston.
