A Local poet is hitting the world wide web.
Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate, Liz Zetin has created a website that showcases Poet Laureates from across the country.
A Poet Laureate is a distinguished poet who represents their city or region.
Zetlin and Mayor Ruth Lovell sent out letters to municipalities asking for their co-operation with the website.
Zetlin says she wanted to create the site to honour local poets in the community.
Users can click on a map of Canada to see who the poet Laureate is in their city or province.
The Poet Laureate Map of Canada currently displays over 29 poets from coast to coast, and is the first of it’s kind.
Zetlin created the website with support from the City of Owen Sound and the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library.
