New wayfinding and gateway sign design drafts are complete for Saugeen Shores and Kincardine.
They were shown off this week as part of a pilot project for the municipalities of Kincardine and Saugeen Shores.
Chris Hughes of Bruce County Tourism and Robert Brengman of Corbin Designs showed off drafts in Kincardine at council.
The new signs for Kincardine would incorporate some of the landmarks of the Municipality that includes the lighthouse and the Scottish tartan.
The Port Elgin sign features a sunset, the water, and some sails and were shown off at a meeting at the Plex last Tuesday.
There are two Southampton designs; one featuring the Chantry Island Lighthouse, the other the Range Lighthouse.
Saugeen Shores Development Coordinator Jay Pausner says various comments came back regarding those signs, ultimately requiring design changes.
Hughes says the meetings were designed to get feedback to make changes.
It’s hoped the signs could be up by spring, but Pausner sites cost as a concern that could delay that.
The gateway signs alone are around 35 thousand dollars a piece, and it’s thought each community should have two to three of them.
Changed designs will be presented to both councils once again in the future, along with costs associated with them.
