Business Development Manager for Epcor Chuck Wickham says this will be for a future wind power project that’s in the works.
They’re looking for land along Highway 21 between Blyth Road and highway 86, and easterly inland.
Wickham says people have been contacting him about possibly entering into an agreement with Epcor to use their land, and he decided to put the word out that they were looking for landowners.
He says they will be reviewing the lands of people who apply to see if it fits their standards and zoning by-laws from Ashfield-Colboure-Wawanosh (ACW).
Wickham says Epcor’s service agreement with the landowners will include things like price, access agreements and options to run power lines under the soil.
The Municipality of ACW has re-worked their comprehensive zoning by-law to include a minimum distance to homes and villages from the turbines.
Wickham says this means Epcor will have to re-work their design plans for the wind project, but will be complying the by-laws.
