The Field Investigator Supervisor Wayne Romaine tells Bayshore Broadcasting News propane gas vapours moved through the home.
But Romaine says the investigation continues into what sparked the vapours to cause the explosion and fire.
He would not confirm a candle ignited the blast.
Romaine would only say their investigation continues and evidence has been sent to the Centre for Forensic Sciences.
The homeowner — 60 year old John Walter — was badly burned in the explosion and fire on Friday night.
Walter died in hospital on Sunday.
His wife escaped the blast without injury.
