Owen Sound took a hefty hit in August on the construction front.
The city issued 34 building permits last month compared to 50 last August and the dollar value dropped by more than 70 percent to sit at 521 thousand dollars.
However Development Co ordinator Sandi Parks says its just a glitch; some months will be lower than others but its best to keep an eye on the overall yearly stats.
Parks says they did have a couple of major projects in the city in August including a spray painting booth for the new MacLean Engineering plant worth 100 thousand dollars.
They also issued permits for a couple of portables for two local schools valued at almost 200 thousand dollars.
Parks says things are shaping up well in September with permits already issued for several new homes, the addition to St. Mary’s high school and the new Tim Horton’s on 10th Street West.
The year to date figures look fairly healthy at this point ….more than 5 percent higher than this time last year at close to 22 million dollars.
