Voter Registrations cards have been mailed to everyone eligible to vote in the October 14th Federal Election.
The cards are necessary if you plan to cast your ballot.
However, Rejean Grenier of Elections Canada says there is always a segment of the voting population that doesn’t receive a card.
Grenier says cards are sometimes delivered to the wrong address when someone changes their residence.
He says others simply may have been left off the voters list for a wide variety of reasons.
Grenier says getting a voter card isn’t difficult, but proper identification is a must.
If you haven’t received your card, you can call Elections Canada, or the local returning office.
There is a new twist for casting your ballot on Election Day this time around.
Grenier says everyone who votes will have to prove their identity and address when they arrive at the polls.
Acceptable I.D.s include a driver’s licence or two pieces of original identification authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada.
