People looking for homegrown food have an easier way of finding it.
The Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association has put out a road map that lists where locally produced food can be purchased.
Coordinator Lynda Orman appearing with John Divinski on Soundingboard says the Field to Fork map contains hundreds of restaurants, farmers, processors, and markets that carry food within a 100-mile radius of where it is grown.
She says the map also has a number of events and attractions in Grey Bruce.
Orman says the map has been out since the end of July and they have been getting tremendous feedback from the contributors who had their business listed on the map.
Orman says visitors to our region will use the map to plan their day.
She says they will look at the map and locate a farmers market, head over to Sauble Beach, then to either Owen Sound or Southampton for dinner, and stay overnight.
Vice-Chair Jenny Amy says they are working on a criteria in which businesses have to qualify to be on their map.
She says, for instance, restaurants need to have only one locally grown food item on their menus to qualify.
But she says they are consulting with restaurant owners in coming up with a minimum percentage of locally grown food that is required to be on their next map.
The Field to Fork map can be picked up at information kiosks and local food businesses.
