A lot of tourists travel Grey Bruce are coming for not just the fall colours, but the cuisine too.
They are a growing of people taking part in Culinary Tourism checking out local restaurants that are serving up all sorts of local food.
Executive Director of the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance Rebecca LeHeup-Bucknell says they are working hard to promote this type of travel not just in Grey Bruce but right across the different regions of the Province
Le Heup-Bucknell part of that strategy is to connect local chefs with local producers to make sure there always is a good and consistent supply of local food to serve.
She the success of Culinary Tourism depends on the construction of and maintenance of local food systems.
She says the next part of the plan is then ensure the chefs promote the fact they are using local food on the menus so that customers are aware of the connection the restaurants have with area farmers.
Le Heup-Buckness says with all the food scares lately this is a wonderful opportunity to let consumers know that the local food they are eating is healthy and safe.
