International Plowing Match organizer Cheryl Leifso says the initial figures show more than 84 thousand people visited the Teeswater site during the five days the match ran last week.
She says that is a very respectable number compared to past events.
Leifso says they will be going over those figures in more detail in the near future to get a better picture of how many people attended the event.
She says they also had a local airfield available for people who wanted to fly to the IPM and 58 planes land just to come to the IPM, which is a record for people flying into a plowing match.
Those aircraft traveled from areas east of Cornwall, south of Delhi, north and also west of Thunder bay to visit the IPM.
Leifso also says she was surprised by the number of local people who showed up several times to take in the IPM.
A big hit at the Match was the education program that saw more than 10 thousand students take part in that and Leifso says many of those kids brought their parents back to the IPM on Saturday.
About 18,000 people visited on the closing day.
