Eleven residents from Grey and Bruce Counties are enjoying their stay in Zimbabwe doing mission work.
They are on a trip called “Zimbabwe 2008” where they are visiting the Village of Hope and helping orphaned children.
Barry Mutrie of Chesley is on the trip for the second straight year.
Mutrie spoke to Beach News from Zimbabwe and says the group is getting along well, and has somewhat settled into a routine.
Mutrie is amazed by how much has changed since he was in Zimbabwe last year.
He says the Village of Hope has grown dramatically with expansions to many buildings including the school.
He says the men and women in the group are taking part in construction projects and other programs with residents in Harare.
Mutrie says in addition, they are distributing clothes and funds that they brought with them from Canada.
He says a few of the group members have come down with gastro-intestinal illnesses, but he says they are not serious.
Mutrie says the local residents are taking good care of the group.
They will continue building at the Village and make a trip to an outlying village to visit a group of orphans tomorrow.
Later in the week they will have an opportunity to walk with lions.
The group departs Zimbabwe for home on Thursday.
