The 2009 Ontario Queen of the Furrow at the International Plowing Match in Teeswater has been crowned.
Jen Megans of the Region of Durham was crowned last night at the Queen of the Furrow Banquet.
Megans was chosen out of 33 other girls who represented their region or county in Ontario.
Megans says she is overwhelmed that she won.
Megans says she was very nervous giving an impromptu speech last night but was able to pull herself together.
Megans says she knows next year will be very busy for her.
Megans is heading into her fourth year at Guelph University and is taking Animal Biology
Megans says she is up to the challenge of balancing her school work and being Queen of the Furrow.
Megans now will spend the next year as an ambassador to the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and will be travelling across the province promoting the 2009 IPM in Temiskaming.
Amelia Taylor of Wellington County was a Top 5 Finalist.
Katie Cheesmond of Wellington County was the 2007 Queen and was recognized for her work at the banquet.
