The Real Estate market in Grey Bruce has slowed considerably over the summer months.
Dave Cheer, President of the Realtors association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound says sales in the first 8 months of the year are off 17% from the same period a year ago.
In total, just over 1 thousand homes have sold in the area compared with over 12 hundred in 2007.
At the same time, prices have dropped by about 3%.
The average price in area is now just over 198 thousand dollars compared with 204 thousand dollars at this time last year.
Cheer says location and the type of property have a big impact on whether buyers are interested right now.
The number of homes sold in Owen Sound is actually up by 1% from the level in the first 8 months of 2007, but Cheer says recreational property sales on the Bruce peninsula are down more than the 17% on average
