After of three years of planning, the 2008 International Plowing Match in Teeswater is underway.
The four day event not only showcases the many sites and attractions offered in Bruce County but it’s also a celebration for the Ontario farmer.
Premier Dalton McGuinty was one of many dignatiries at yesterday’s opening ceremonies to thank the province’s farmers.
McGuinty thanked the Ontario Farmers on behalf of the entire province for putting healthy, delicious, affordable food on the tables of Ontario families.
McGuinty went on to say people are wanting food from Ontario because they can see and taste the difference from the province’s food.
Ontario Minister of Agriculture Leona Dombrowski echoed McGuinty’s comments.
Dombrowski says everyday residents across our province open their fridges and they are delighted to see the wonderful food from Ontario.
Dombrowski says the plowing match is a great event to showcase Ontario’s agriculture and its rural lifestyle.
Dombrowski adds events like the IPM are not possible without the many volunteers that sacrifice their time and resources.
Day 2 at the IPM today (WED) will bring another special dignitary to the event, Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor David Onley
