The 28th annual Owen Sound Terry Fox Run is over for another year.
People across Bruce and Grey counties laced up to run, walk and bike in cancer fundraiser — The Terry Fox Run.
Owen Sound organizer Scott Greig says they had an excellent turnout this year despite the constant rain.
The run took place yesterday at Harrison Park in Owen Sound over a five kilometre loop course.
Greig says there were approximately 215 participants this year.
He says he doesn’t know the amount of funds raised yet, but they are hoping for $20, 000.
Greig and his wife took over for the previous organizer, Paula Robinson.
He says he wanted to step up and be an organizer because there was some local concern the event was not going to continue this year.
Greig says they didn’t want that to happen because it is too good of a cause.
He says it is a dream the whole country took over after Terry’s death.
14 year old Eric Hachey of Owen Sound participated in the run for his first time.
Hachey says he will be coming back after this year because cancer is a big challenge and he wants to be a part of the cure.
Brad Morely of Owen Sound has been running in the charity event for over 20 years.
Morley says he keeps participating because it is important to look to an example of strength and determination, like Terry had.
There was also a silent auction and Barbeque put on by the Knights of Columbus to help raise funds.
