Thousands of people in Bruce and Grey Counties are getting ready to get active for Terry Fox.
It’s the 28th annual Terry Fox Run in communities across the region.
On Soundingboard, Saugeen Shores organizer Holly Vanderzwet says they’re ready for their event at North Shore Park by the Rotary Pavilion.
Registration begins at 12:30 and the event starts at 1pm and follows the shoreline.
She says it’s not a race but a family event where you can run, walk, rollerblade or bike.
It’s wheelchair accessible as well.
Vanderzwet is hoping upwards of 300 people will take part like last year where close to $20,000 was raised.
Vanderzwet says she gets very emotional when asked what the event means to her.
She says this is her way of keeping Terry Fox’s legacy alive.
She says he was a very determined young man and she wants to keep it going.
In Kincardine, the Terry Fox Run takes place in Sunday morning.
Organizer Erin Froot says it begins at the Davidson Centre track at 9am with a piper-led lap around the track before heading into the community.
Froot says they’re hoping to better their amount of $9,000 raised last year.
The money raised in all communities goes to cancer research.
