It is not the kind of meeting one Kincardine Councillor had in mind.
Council this week was to have formulated the parameters of a forum to discuss the future of the Kincardine hospital.
Councillor Ron Hewitt says the scheduled forum was to have the Municipality and stakeholders conduct an open and frank discussion and to come up with options.
Hewitt — who originally wanted the forum — says his idea was to have two meetings to come up with a working group of volunteers to do some of the leg work.
He says the group would come back to Council with recommendations.
But he says it is now structured as an information session so as not to upset some people.
Hewitt says he has been getting a lot of calls from ratepayers about the recent cuts to publicly-funded out-patient physiotherapy at the hospital and feels it is his duty to get some of the issues on the table.
He says one those issues is to whether the hospital should de-malgamate from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
He also wants to know why communications between the hospital and SBGHC broke down.
The forum would involve both Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss Council, the Kincardine Physician Group, the Kincardine Hospital Foundation, SBGHC, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the Local Health Integration Network, and Huron Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell.
It was to be scheduled for October 29th but those involved in the meeting had some conflicts with the date.
Council has directed staff to contact the all parties to come up with a new day and time for the meeting.
In the meantime, Council will come up with a list of questions to be asked at the hospital meeting and will be finalized at their next Council meeting.
