There is now a third candidate in the running for the Huron Bruce seat
Lucknow Farmer Tony McQuail was acclaimed as the candidate for the New Democrats in front of a small gathering at a nomination meeting last night at the old Lucknow Town Hall.
McQuail is no stranger to politics having ran as a federal NDP candidate in 1980, 1988, and 1993, and as a provincial NDP candidate in 1981 and 1999.
McQuail says he is running on a platform of a sustainable and equitable society that strengthens both urban and rural communities.
He says Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been taking the country in the wrong direction on the economy and the environment.
He says Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has only been supporting Harper throughout the term of the minority conservative government.
McQuail says he is concerned that the political climate is becoming very negative.
He says the only way to solve problems at a global level is to work together rather than partisan bickering.
McQuail says he has learned that when people like someone they stand by them.
But he says you cant take them for granted and when October 14th comes around your fate is left in the voters hands.
McQuail will be up against Liberal Greg McClinchey and Conservative Ben Lobb in the Huron Bruce riding.
