The Grey-Bruce Health Services can do some bragging and some improving.
The Board received the annual report from the Hospital Report Research Collaborative at last night’s meeting.
President and CEO Pat Campbell says hospital performance has been measured in four areas of operation – Acute Care, Mental Health, Emergency Care and Rehabilitation.
Campbell is pleased the GBHS has been identified as a High Performing Hospital in the Emergency Care report.
She says they’re performing above the provincial average in the Emergency Unit in different areas that were evaluated – including patient satisfaction, clinical utilization, finances and health systems.
Campbell adds they’re gearing up to collect and report data on measuring and reporting emergency room waiting times.
She says up until now, reviews have largely been based on patient satisfaction reports.
As for the other areas, Campbell says they were at the provincial average, or below.
Campbell says they’ve been fighting to improve access to cardiac testing.
She says not just the GBHS, but most hospitals in Southwestern Ontario have less access to those services than anywhere else in the province.
However, Campbell adds things have improved now that they’ve partnered with St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, and she says those improved statistics may show in the next report, as there is a lag in data collection.
