Maverick Bruce Grey Owen Sound Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch says John Tory has had his chance and its time for a change.
Murdoch says he has given up on Tory and its time for the partyleader to find another job.
The outspoken MPP says its now time for the Party to cut its losses and go to a full blown leadership convention.
Murdoch says his lack of confidence in the party leader is one reason he did not attend Wednesdays special caucus meeting in Barrie.
Tory used that meeting to once again poll MPP’s to see if anyone was willing to give up their seat so he could run in a by election.
The Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP says his seat is not up for grabs and believes that Tory could not win if he did run in this riding.
Murdoch says the voters in this riding would never support a candidate who was parachuted in to run in a by election.
Asked if any other members of the Caucus support his call for a leadership vote, Murdoch says he is sure there are, but they lack the guts to say so publicly.
Murdoch says not having the Leader in the Legislature does diminish the effectiveness of the opposition somewhat, but Bob Runciman is doing a very good job as the acting leader.
However he says its essential that the leader be in the House in the next year if the party is going to have any chance at winning the next election scheduled for 2011.
