The Grey Bruce Public Health unit confirms a bat in the Point Clark area has tested positive with the disease.
Officials say this is the fourth rabid animal report in Bruce and Grey this year.
The most recent case involved a cow in Walkerton mid-June.
Other cases include a rabid skunk in Tara, tested in early June and another skunk in the Durham area in April.
The health unit reminds residents to protect themselves and their family, along with their pets from any strange animal; and not approach them.
The virus is concentrated in the saliva of a rabid animal, and can be spread through a bite, cut or scratch.
Rabies is fatal to your pets, and without proper treatment can be for humans
