Over 400 new and returning students participated in yesterday’s orientation day.
The students feel it’s a day to get to know the people who will be your peers for the next couple of years.
The jam packed day of activities got underway early in the morning and winded down with Shinerama which is an annual student fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.
Spencer Riddell and Mitchell Paulovics are both entering their first year’s in the Marine Engineering program.
Ridell says orientation important especially for a small campus like Georgian College because you are probably going to see the same people every day.
Paulovics says he is excited to begin school because the other students in his program seem pretty nice.
Both students are not from the Grey Bruce region and are living off campus but say the College’s website made it easy for them to find a place.
Corrine Langner and Jillian Waswlwk are both starting their program in Early Childhood Education.
Langner says she really likes the campus because it’s small and not intimidating.
Langner says its always good to meet your peers in a relaxed environment before you start school.
Waswlwk says the orientation helped her get to know her peers better before school gets underway.
Classes start at Georgian College today.
