Students at Georgian College in Owen Sound aren’t worrying about a support staff strike on their first day.
Full services will be offered as usual by support staff at the province’s 24 colleges.
The staff’s union and the group representing the colleges reached a tentative agreement Sunday, just before the contract expired at midnight.
Union officials say the proposed terms include wage raises of three per cent for each of the next three years.
Some 6,500 college support workers from 24 colleges across Ontario were preparing to strike with their contract set to expire Sunday.
A ratification vote, conducted by the Ministry of Labour, will be held soon and the terms of the agreement will be released.
