St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Southampton continues to go “green”.
A third session on the environment is being held Sunday morning at the church.
Co-Clerk Mary Sylver says the public is welcome to attend the session; where guest speaker Corinna Serda will be attending.
Corrina is the daughter of Saugeen Shores councillor Victoria Serda who took training on the Climate Change project from former US Vice President Al Gore.
Sylver says back in the spring, a member of the church approached the church board about skipping pesticides because of a severe allergy.
She says it was then, the church decided to look at other things they could do, to be more environmentally friendly.
A committee was formed, and among a few things, the church doesn’t use styrofoam anymore, and buy products that are compostable.
Sylver says by offering these “green sessions” they are helping the community too.
The session is open to the public, and begins at 10:30 this morning, in place of the traditional Sunday service.
