It’s a nerve racking time for students heading to college or university for the first time.
Chris McGrath, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Toronto tells Bayshore Broadcasting News many of them are feeling panicked right about now.
He says everything the students have been working towards, especially in their last year of high school is all becoming a reality.
He adds all the fees are due and arrangements are being made to move into residence which can be very stressful.
McGrath reccomends students who are moving into residence pack only the necessities and then get the rest of the stuff they may need on their first visit home.
He also gives advice on making it easier for parents, set the clock on the VCR
and leave the manuals to all the electronics to help them survive without you.
As for students starting their last year of high school, McGrath recommends they sit down with their parents and explore all options for the best next step for them which could include going to University, College or an apprenticeship.
