A local triathlete is looking ahead to where he’ll compete.
RJ Ross of Port Elgin is coming off winning the Owen Sound triathlon and that qualifies him for the 2009 world championships in Australia.
But Ross tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he will skip that in favour of representing Bruce Power’s Nuclear Response Team at the Police and Fire Games in Vancouver next July of 2009.
He says the Police and Fire Games happens every two years in between the 2009 and 2011 World Triathlon Championships.
He says he hopes to compete in the World Triathlon Championships in 2011.
Ross says he finished second when he participated in the last world championships and hopes one day he will become a world champion.
But he says he can’t lose focus on the enjoyment of the sport.
Ross says he will be competing for an upcoming triathlon event in September.
He says it is the course is half of an Olympic-sized triathlon event.
He says after that he’ll take a break until December before training for the Police and Fire Games.
