The support continues to pour in for an Owen Sound paralympic athlete.
The city’s staff has created a banner for the community to sign to show their support for Jason Crone.
Jason is a member of the Canadian Wheelchair Rugby team and will be participating in the Paralympic Games in Beijing in mid-September.
The first day of the banner signing was today at city hall which was signed by Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners and other members of council.
Jason’s parents, Mike and Betty were in attendance and says they are touched by the continued community support for their son.
Mike Crone says the banner is a great idea for the community to show their support for Jason.
Crone was paralyzed after being hit from behind while playing hockey in March 2003.
Mike Crone says the injury has not stopped Jason from being a competitive athlete saying Jason has no fear.
Mike Crone says he and his wife have watched their son compete in world class competitions and says to watch Jason evolve is quite amazing.
Both Mike and Betty will be in Beijing for the Paraylmpic Games.
The banner will be on display to sign:
Tomorrow at Farmers Market
Sunday at the Owen Sound Attack exhibition game at the Harry Lumley Bayshore
Tues Sept 2 and Wed Sept 3 at the Owen Sound Library
Thurs Sept 4 at OSCVI during the day and the Lumley Bayshore in the night.
Mayor Lovell Stanners will present the banner to Jason upon his return from Beijing.
