Gateway Haven wants to clear the air regarding their long-term care facility.
A report from the Ministry of Health on long-term care homes in July cited the Wiarton facility was non-compliant in 8 of 400 standards.
Administrator Charles Young says the 8 areas of non-compliance all had to do with proper documentation and none had to do with direct resident care.
He says there was thought from the public that Gateway Haven was compromising care when it actually was not the case.
Young says when news of the report came out, Gateway Haven was lumped in with the other three-quarters of long-term care homes across Ontario that have failed to meet basic care standards.
He assures Gateway Haven meets all resident care standards.
Young also notes that the Ministry of Health did not update their website with the information though he gives them the benefit of the doubt.
He says Gateway Haven corrected their non-compliances before the report came out.
He says updating the website in a more timely fashion would have helped in this situation
