It appears more people are packing their back-pack and sleeping bag and have decided to camp this summer.
Spokesperson Shannon Wood says the authority campgrounds are having a banner year as more and more people choose to vacation locally.
She feels it has more to do with the high price of gas.
Wood says it’s wonderful that residents are beginning to discover the treasures they have in their own backyards.
The Saugeen Conservation Authority offers three main campgrounds boasting about 500 camp sites in total.
The campgrounds include the Durham Conservation Authority, Saugeen Bluffs – just north of Paisley and Bruce Dale located along the Lake Huron Shoreline.
Wood says camping makes for great family memories and is much more affordable than the alternative – traveling outside the region or even flying south.
