It has announced it will not reverse a decision to privatize physiotherapy services at the Kincardine hospital.
Earlier this month, a delegation of doctors appeared before the board of directors wanting the decision reversed.
Starting Monday outpatient physiotherapy patients wanting service in Kincardine will have to go to PT Health at the hospital.
Services provided by PT Health are not covered by OHIP.
OPSEU Communications Officer David Cox says the announcement hurts the community on a whole.
He says now, residents have to be concerned about what service will be privatized next.
Cox says it means time on the road for the one unionized member affected by the move.
Patients who want physio services covered by OHIP have to travel to Walkerton, or Chesley.
The board sites financial constraints for the move.
Cox doesn’t understand that statement.
He says on their website in news releases, the board talks about a surplus in 2008-2009; contrary to statements just a month later indicating the opposite.
The hospital corporation will still foot the bill for patients staying at the Kincardine hospital.
